Check out my new thumb travels photoblog for a smile…
I am blessed. I am a mom who works in the technology industry. Two great teen-agers – big one (18 year old girl), little one (16 year old son), and married 20 years to their terrific dad. At work, I manage a team of 250 technology professionals.
I am busy all the time, but feel I have achieved a fairly good balance in my life. My friends and family might dispute this. I have a sign in my kitchen that says “Every day is a gift” and I truly believe this. All days are challenging in different ways, but I begin each day knowing I have the chance to make a difference and I rise to the challenge.
Like every other mom and every other worker, I often think I can get more things done in a day than is humanly possible. I am conscious each day to spend time enjoying and doing something just for myself. Sometimes this is as simple as a 5 minute walk outside between meetings or a drive into work singing loudly with the music arriving at work where I will face 8 hours straight of meetings. During the hustle of the day, I can conjure up the image of the blessing I felt to have those few minutes alone to reflect.
