Saturday Fun

Got the kids up early and made them do all the chores.  Well, the stairs still need to be vacuumed…but Little One promised to do it before bedtime.  I love when chores are done Saturday morning so we can then do other things and return home to the comfort and cleanliness.

Little One and hubby went to hockey and Big One and I headed out shopping.  We are going on a southern vacation and that means fun things to buy.  Just got home after 10 hours shopping with a 16-year-old girl and let me tell you, I now know that I am getting old.  My back is sore, my feet are sore, and my knees are sore.  We had a great time and she got two beautiful bathing suits that are both what she wanted and something we are comfortable with her wearing while sitting beside us.  We got a few things for the guys and a few things for each of us, but most of the time was spent walking and talking and looking at bathing suits.

The Eaton Centre sure is one big mall and I believe we walked past every store on every level.

When we were done all I wanted to do was come home and go to bed.  She wanted to go to dinner with me and talk.  So that is what we did.  We had a wonderful time, good food, and I got caught up on all her friends and school classes and how she thinks about homework every day.  She said she mostly doesn’t mind but wishes she didn’t have homework for every class this week-end.

Now we are home and some of the drywall got put up in the ongoing bathroom project.  Hubby made everyone tea and we are all sitting on one couch with both kids doing homework on Saturday night.

That is a cool looking Mall. I know what you are saying about the body failing you. After a couple hours in the mall, I am usually plopped down on a bench people watching while the family goes on with the shopping…..how you lasted as long as you did is a great testament to your YOUTH!! ha ha 🙂 Where ya headed on your vacation?

    • Hi Mark. It is a great mall, but waaaaaay too big for my taste. The teenagers love it. Last time I took her and 3 friends and I sat and drank coffee and got my nails done and then met them. This time, I was in for all the walking and the fun. Crazy. We are headed to Punta Cana soon. Have you ever been there?

  2. The shopping part sounds horrible, but everything else sounds like a very good dream. Glad you had such a great day.

  3. You know, I would have felt the exact same way. But, what a nice day you had. Makes me miss those times with my daughter. Have a great Sunday!

What a beautiful mall! Days like the one you described are ones you’ll hold in your memory when the kids are off and on their own — and you won’t even remember your sore back and knees!

Oh for those idylic days when kids were young! Sounds like you had a good one. Appreciate your time with them while they’re still around.
