  1. What good book might you be reading???

    Sounds wonderful. Soak it up!

Some of the best beaches in the world are on Lake Michigan. It’s not for the faint of heart – the water isn’t reallly warm enough to jump right in until the end of July. But you can’t beat the waves and the views. Enjoy your beach vacay!

HuffyGirl – July? Naw, you gotta get in that water no later than April! That really gets the blood flowing – if not from the water, then from the paramedics’ defibrillator! (“Clear!” ZAP!)
Seriously, you have to go to the lakefront in January. Go to one of the Chicago beaches, like down around the Shedd Aquarium. Go on a cold day, 20 degrees or less, with a good stiff wind onshore and a cloudy, stormy day, maybe even with it raining or snowing. To stand there on the rocks, the wind whipping the waves and showering the rocks with freezing water, sky and sea that same angry grey-green, to feel so small, and yet so connected to nature ….. 😦
I know that LOL means laugh out loud. Is there SOL for sobbing out loud? ‘Cause remembering doing that breaks me up every time. I highly recommend it – dressed properly, of course!

  4. Hippie Cahier says:

I envy you all of them, but #7 is negotiable, depending on what they were doing. I get to watch the sunrise over the water every morning and it doesn’t get old. The cold weather — that I am waaaaay over. Enjoy!

  5. John Erickson says:

I envy you numbers 1 and 4. It’s been a while since I’ve been near one of the oceans – or especially one of the Great Lakes (preferably Michigan).
