Thursday Tech Talk

What a great dinner!  I took my leadership team out for a holiday dinner tonight and I had such a good time.  I know the holidays are over in Canada, but the team was crazy busy over the last two months and I wanted to make sure they could all make it and relax enough to enjoy it.

So, we planned the dinner for January 26.  Everyone made it, and everyone was relaxed.

We told stories on each other, we laughed, we talked about how we all came together, and where we are headed over the next year as a team.

At one point, we had a few blackberries out and were talking about the features that are different on the various models.  How the menus work, the password function to unlock it, the touch screen pros and cons, and which one has a better keyboard for texting with one hand.

Okay, crazy geek talk over a fabulous dinner and some nice wine.  But, what do you expect from a technology leadership team?

Isn’t the goal to have fun…regardless what fun might mean to a group?  🙂  I am blessed to work with talented people I respect, enjoy, and trust.

Computer techs are hopeless. I remember a movie-watching party many years ago, a group of us decided to “relax, rent a video, and enjoy”. The agreed-upon choice was WarGames. Nice, dramatic thriller, right?
How about 2 hours of discussing all the technical errors, regarding the computers in the movie?
And everyone agreed it was a BLAST!
I’ve only found one group worse than computer nerds. World War 2 re-enactors. Honestly, we can go into a fabric store – five guys in a fabric store, right? – and go off on a debate about which fabrics could be used for what part of our uniforms.
    Yes, I am a sad little man……

Nice! A celebration dinner is great no matter when you take…it’s awesome you still remembered your group. (even if all you did was tech speak. Hopefully, there weren’t spouses there that didn’t understand.)
